

The game restarts again, but this time Sayori, Natsuki and Yuri are alive and attending the club. She is angry at first but expresses regret for her decisions and restores the other girls, except herself. She talks about different topics until the player goes into the game's files and deletes her character Monika glitches out and realises what the player is doing. She explains that she was the one who made each girl's situation worsen and declares her love for the player, not their character. Towards the end of the game, Monika and the player are sitting across from each other in an empty classroom. Yuri confesses her love before killing herself Natsuki vomits upon discovering her corpse and Monika erases both their character files.

Monika reveals in her poems her disdain towards the other girls, Yuri self harming and Natsuki telling the player's character that being in the club is a welcome break from her home situation. The game soon becomes twisted, with files being added to the player's computer and the game restarting on several occasions. As the festival dawns, the player's character decides to check on Sayori during the weekend, where she reveals she suffers from severe depression, eventually committing suicide. The player interacts with the four girls over time and makes poems, as Monika declares that the club should participate in their school's festival. He meets the club's three other members: Yuri, Natsuki and Monika. The story focuses upon a male student (whom the player controls) who attends their school's literature club by accepting an invitation from their childhood friend, Sayori.
